When constructing our product we had to be versatile when using a range of different technologies. We had to learn about different technologies, such as: camera equipment and editing etc, and how to use them effectively within our media product. We used a Canon DLSR camera to film our horror opening scene and found this familiar to use as I am currently taking A-level Photography. We attached the camera to a tripod for the majority of the filming process and found this to achieve higher quality, still shots as opposed to having hand-held shots. For certain shots we had to hold the camera and these shots were difficult to shoot due to the movement whilst we were holding the camera.

I believe when shooting our film it was more difficult to film than to edit, this being because we did not have all the appropriate equipment, such as: a tripod. This became quite difficult to be able to do different shots and we became quite restricted when filming. Our Panning Shots could have been a lot more smoother with a tripod and we could have just made the whole opening scene a lot smoother overall. |
I found editing our media product became easier as we spent a lot of time getting to grips with it. I edited frequently and it became clear what needed to be done in order to stick to our schedule. I have learnt that there are a few editing techniques that can be interpreted in our work that were not too difficult to understand. These include: a cut, dissolve and also adding the song on to the top of our work. I found that having lots of cuts in our opening scene made the genre clear to the audience and kept it fast paced, similar to other existing horror opening scenes. Dissolving some of the clips allowed the opening scene to flow a lot smoother than having just cut after cut. Lastly, adding a song onto the opening scene was simple enough to do as the song seemed to flow with the rest of the clips added.
