Get Out 2017
In the 2017 horror film 'Get Out', the story begins with a happy couple travelling to meet her parents (as seen above). As the couple are of different races, there is racial prejudice confirmed here too. Unaware of anything to come, this is the equilibrium in the narrative.

There is a few scenes in the film where this state of equilibrium is disrupted. An example of this is when the man decides that his girlfriend's parents are acting strange around him and so confronts her about it, to then be told everything is fine. The equilibrium is then restored.

Throughout the film, there are a number of times this happens and eventually the story ends with the man actually being right about the family and to shock the audience, the girlfriend had a hidden scheme with the family and has been helping them all along. It is also clear by now that the girlfriend has had many black boyfriends and so this means she has been lying all along. The equilibrium is turned into dis-equilibrium by the end of the story too. However, by the last scene the man is saved by his friend and equilibrium in a sense is restored.
Despite this, horror films generally do not have restoring equilibrium narratives, due to horrors being so unfortunate to the characters.
